FARA Foundation

FARA Foundation, founded 30 years ago, has a mission to transform the lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children, youth and families living in poor communities in Romania. FARA Foundation aims to be a family for those without, striving to raise resilient and responsible children and young people, strong and functional families and engaged communities. Through its programs in Suceava County and Popesti Leordeni (Ilfov) - A Family for Life, Support for Independent Living, A Family for the Lacking, Therapy and Recovery for Children and Youth with Disabilities, Prevention Fighting Poverty through Education - FARA Foundation contributes to alleviating trauma among marginalized children, youth and adults, gives hope for the fulfillment of dreams and helps them find answers and resources to rebuild a better future. On 24.02.2022 FARA Foundation created the Ukraine Solidarity Team to provide basic material support, psychological assistance and emotional support to children and families transiting through Siret Customs and headed to Refugee Centers and mobile camps in Suceava County. On 26.02.2022 the program was extended to Popesti Leordeni and the South-East area to cover the needs in Bucharest and the surrounding areas as well as in the Isaccea customs area. Together with its specialists, collaborators and volunteers, FARA Foundation provided emergency assistance by supplying basic food and non-food items (hygiene kits, EIP, warm clothing, first aid kits, medical supplies). Other services included: family and safe accommodation, food, clothing, hygiene and cleaning products, access to medical services, legal services, translations, humanitarian financial support for travel, internal and external transport, humanitarian aid through convoys to Ukraine. The project team facilitated access to official information, emotional support, educational and recreational activities for children and families as well as Romanian language courses and mentoring to support integration.
